JGHS Providing
Affordable Housing
In 2019, JGHS expanded to provide affordable housing for formerly unhoused individuals and families. JGHS has six properties where households can become tenants with a housing voucher. These include: two apartments and six single room occupancy (SRO) units in Vergennes; three apartments in Bristol; four apartments in Middlebury; and three Zero Energy Modular homes (ZEMs) in Bristol. Collectively, these properties have 18 available apartments.
This is one way that JGHS meets the rising need of Vermonters, a state with the fourth-lowest rental vacancy rate in the U.S. at 3.4%, and a .06% homeowner vacancy rate (US Census 2025).
